Syringe Shields

Transport, dispensing and delivery of the isotope to the patient’s bed, all three procedures in one system makes your PET or Nuclear Medicine Department a safe place to work.

The system has been proved to minimize radiation exposure to personnel involved in this technique.

It has also been found that the transportation of the FDG from central facility or remote area can be done with the maximum of safety

1.Transport

Transport case for the dose dispensing unit.

Transport is made safe and efficient using an easily distinguishable case specially designed for PET and Nuclear Medicine. The case is suitable to carry chemicals, delicate materials, and with the use of the lead dispensing unit, radioisotopes.

It has been molded out of a rigid, one-piece high impact plastic, and internally lined with a high-density foam which precisely allows the lead dispensing unit to fit with minimal to no movement.
The transport case comes with security locks, as well as a pressure release valve for safe airplane transportation in case of decompression, or pressure build up.

It also comes with a reversible Plastic Tag to indicate whether the unit is hot in route to its destination, or cold for safe return to be reloaded.

2. Lead Dispensing Unit

Comes with removable handle and ‘Vial base’.

The removable handle allows for easy pick up of the lead dispensing unit and docking into the ‘Vial base’. Then simply allow the weight of the unit to fall unto the vial base, lower the handle and it should slip off with the minimum of effort. Remove the safety pin and now the lid can be removed for dose dispensing.
The lead dispensing unit can be made to accommodate a 5cc or 10cc syringe shield (Please specify which size when placing order), which safely locks into the narrow neck of the unit. This permits a safe transferal of the isotope from the pot onto the syringe with minimal exposure to the operator. The unit is designed to swivel away from the operator allowing for maximum shielding.

The syringe shield with the syringe containing the isotope can then be quickly removed and transported into the delivery unit using the advanced features of the PET Workstation to best adhere to the A.L.A.R.A. principle.

3. PET Workstation Preparation

Mobile / Rigid dose preparation and dispensing area used to house the ‘Vial base’. Comes with provision for underbench dose calibrator and waste storage.

The layout of the PET Workstation is designed for an efficient left to right work-flow, from dose draw-up, measure to waste disposal.
The workstation’s main feature is a ‘fixed track’ mobile lead screen. The lead screen is easy to slide, and can travel across 95% of the length of workstation. Correct use of the mobile lead screen greatly reduces the amount of radiation exposure to personnel.
Other features include an under bench dose calibrator , as well as a shielded under bench storage space for waste disposal which comes with a lead lid to minimize needle injuries.

The unit is made up of a sturdy, concealed, steel chassis designed to withstand more weight than traditional fixed benches.
The workstation is mounted on lockable wheels for ease of installation or future relocation. Stainless steel finish for aseptic purposes and has a wet edge to contain spillage.

INCLUDES:

FIXED TRACK MOBILE LEAD BARRIER
• Stainless steel cladding front all around
• Sturdy concealed steel track construction to support more weight
• Viewing window / lead equivalence
• Avoid exposure to the technologist across 95% of the length of workstation
• Screen is balanced to be easily slid by operator

RECESSED ISOTOPE CALIBRATOR CHAMBER WELL
• Splash lip around entry
• Removable fit-to-place steel lid with handles
• Hole in lid for chamber opening
• Llead construction in well walls and base
• Made to suit most isotope calibrator chambers (see dimensions for details)
• Cable opening in bottom of well facing to the rear of the bench for display / power.

4. Syriporter Delivery System

Delivery system designed for fast, accurate injections while adhering to the A.L.A.R.A. principle.

Syriporter

• The Syriporter is uniquely designed to minimize exposure to the Nuclear Medicine technologist or Radio-Pharmacist. It does so by allowing for a fast transfer of the syringe shield into the syringe holder. It is then easily moved from the dose preparation area to the delivery suite due to it’s superiorly balanced construction using a low center of gravity distributed unto five wheels.
• Spring action mechanism ensures safe transport of the dose by locking the syringe into position vertically.
• It has been specially designed for a 5cc or 10cc tungsten syringe shield (please specify which size at time of order), which easily fits into the syringe holder avoiding excessive manipulation.
• Attached front metal tray permits the utilization of complimentary items for the procedure. This includes a small lead disk, specifically designed to push the plunger on the syringe, minimizing exposure to the digits.
• Also included is a detachable miniature drip stand to hold saline bags for a quick flush of the radioisotope through a three way tap.

Lead Shield

• Stainless steel cladding front all round
• Sturdy concealed steel track construction to take weight
• Viewing window lead equivalence
• Balanced for ease of movement by operator
